Some Information on the Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Faced by Cedar Realty’s CEO
Cedar Realty’s CEO namely Bruce Schanzer is now facing charges of pay discrimination and sexual harassment as filed by their former Chief Operating Officer namely Nancy H. Mozzachio. It will now be all up to a Brooklyn judge to either proceed the lawsuit or not.
As per Nancy Mozzachio’s statement of her filed lawsuit on November 2, she says that she has seen and heard Schanzer always making inappropriate comments to women as well as leering them. Schanzer is used to calling Nancy Mozzachio ‘babe’ as well as commenting about her breasts. After bringing on her desk a coffee cup from Dunkin Donuts, she claimed that he made a comment about bringing some double Ds to work. Furthermore, Schanzer is also accused of giving groping hugs that are unwanted to the one filing the case.
By the time that Nancy H. Mozzachio filed her case to the court for pay disparity and sexual harassment, the company has then decided that it be best for them to fire her. Come February 2016 when she was done getting some outside help for the sexual harassment case she was filing against the Cedar’s CEO, she was then terminated for her job. Based on her claims, after her meeting was canceled on the spot, she was then being told by the company that she will be terminated the next week.
Allegations were then investigated by Cedar Realty after a 2015 external investigator probe. Despite the presence of an investigator by the company, Nancy Mozzachio makes mention that if it will be about Schanzer and the sexual harassment allegations made by the female employees of the company, the investigator ignores them. There is even one employee that went to the Wall Street Journal to tell them to report about her being asked by Schanzer what color her underwear is. As per Mozzachio, all the lawsuit charges against Schanzer were just settled in the form of payroll payments to keep them quiet from the investors.
Nancy Mozzachio has found some success in the company. She has made her way to the top as being the chief operating officer in the year 2014 after she has become the director of leasing and vice president of leasing in the years 2003 and 2004, respectively. According to what she is filing, she complains that she is only getting smaller bonuses as well as lower salaries being the chief operating officer compared to the chief financial officer when in fact she must get them in higher amount. Of course, for Cedar Realty, they are not true and are very much satisfied that after the board has done their investigations, the allegations were of no merit.
Nancy H. Mozzachio is still coming back for more after this denial. Until this day, she will fight for what is right and in providing female employees a safer place to work in.
